Remote First Aid
This unit of competency provides the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid to a casualty in a remote and/or isolated situation where emergency services may not be able to respond for an extended period.
Pre-/co-requisite: This unit should be assessed either after or in conjunction with achievement of the following related competency unit: HLTFA301B Apply First Aid
Participants are also required to have sufficient numeracy and literacy skills to read and comprehend instruction.
Nominal Duration: 24 hours
(including HLTFA301B Apply First Aid)
Elements:
All the elements of HLTFA301B Apply First Aid as well as:

Preparation for isolated work and/or travel

Communication systems
-
Evacuation and transportation procedures
-
Prolonged casualty care
-
Improvise treatment and resources
On successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised unit of competency from the Health Training Package, HLTFA302A - Provide First Aid in Remote Situation.
