First Aid
Overview:
This unit of competency deals with the provision of essential First Aid in recognising and responding to and emergency using basic life support measures. The First Aider is not expected to deal with complex casualties or incidents, but to provide an initial response where First Aid is required. In this unit it is assumed the First Aider is working under supervision and/or according to established workplace First Aid procedures and policies.

Who Should Attend:
Employees, supervisors, managers and anyone who has the responsibility for providing first aid with-in an organisation and anyone with an interest or need to learn first aid.

Training Methods:
The course will be presented by group discussion, role plays, video, syndicate exercise, case studies, practical exercises, lecture and report writing. The course is interactive and practical.
Course Assessment:
The assessment criteria for this course will be based on both informal and formal processes (as per Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) requirements for competency based training).

Award:
On successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised unit of competency from the Health Training Package.

HLTFA301B - Apply First Aid, valid for three (3) years. This course is also available in a 1-day flexible delivery format.
Recertification:
Re-accreditation is conducted over 1 day but must be completed prior to expiration of current certification.
