HIS StudentCPR COURSE

Overview:

This unit of competency covers the skills and knowledge required to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

Elements:

  • Respond to signs of an unconscious casualty

  • Perform CPR

  • Communicate details of the incident

 

Course Content:

  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)                    

  • Basic anatomy and function of the human body

  • Choking

  • Legislative requirements             

Nominal Duration:                 

4 hours

Who Should Attend:

Employees, supervisors, managers and anyone who has the responsibility for providing first aid with-in an organisation and anyone with an interest or need to learn CPR.

 

Pre/co requisites:

There is no pre-requisite for this course, however, participants are required to have sufficient numeracy and literacy skills to read and comprehend instruction.

Training Methods: 

The course will be presented by group discussion, role plays, video, syndicate exercise, case studies, practical exercises, lecture and report writing. The course is interactive and practical. 

 

Course Assessment:

The assessment criteria for this course will be based on both informal and formal processes (as per Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) requirements for competency based training).

The assessment methods used during the course will be:

  • Workbook

  • CPR practical activity

  • First aid practical activity

  • Group discussions

Award:

On successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised unit of competency from the Health Training Package.

  • HLTCPR201A - Perform CPR, valid for one (1) year.

Recertification:

Re-accreditation should be conducted annually.

 

Notes:

The units of competency are nationally recognised and are registered on the National Training Information Service website http://www.ntis.gov.au
